In this video, I'll show you how to create research outlines in Perspective AI.
A research outline is essentially a set of instructions that tells Perspective how to conduct an interview. Before you start writing any questions, take a moment to define what you need to learn. Ask yourself:
What decision will this research inform?
What hypothesis or assumptions are we testing?
And what would success look like for this interview?
These questions will help you create a focused research outline.
Now let's create one. Enter a specific research question. For example, you might write: "I want to interview existing customers about their experience using our beta AI feature so that I can learn what we need to improve before launching."
The more specific you are about your audience, topic, and goals, the better.
Click "Create Research" and Perspective will assess its confidence level. If it needs more information, it'll ask you some follow-up questions. Just answer those, and after a couple of quick questions, Perspective will generate your research outline.
The outline includes several components: the interview type, a description of what's being researched, your research question, the goals, participant profiles, and interview guidelines. These guidelines act as guardrails for the AI interviewer.
Now here's the important part: refining your outline. You can dictate changes conversationally.
For instance, you might say "I want to interview enterprise customers specifically." Each change generates a new version of the outline.
After making changes, test the interview yourself. Experience it from the participant's perspective. You'll often find adjustments you want to make. Keep iterating until you're satisfied.
Once you're happy with the outline, you're ready to invite participants.
And that's how you create research outlines in Perspective AI.
